Here you'll find a variety of photos and videos that might give you an insight into my books, the research process and a little bit of who I am.

Books

This is what it's all about.

  • GJ talks about his booksGJ talks about his books
Glasgow based thriller writer GJ Moffat talks about his novels Daisychain (out now) and Fallout (Apr 2010)
  • This is the poster being displayed in Scottish mainline train
stations to promote Fallout's release in hardback.

Launch Party

Daisychain was launched at the 'Aye Write' festival in Glasgow in March 2009.

  • Shaking hands and saying thanks to Ian who manned the Waterstones table selling my books at the launch party.
  • Reading from the Daisychain prologue in front of 200 friends and family
  • This is me, my wife Kay, my editor Wendy, my publisher Bob and jacket designer Chris at the party.

The Streets of San Francisco 2009

From The TV show The Streets of San Francisco to Dirty Harry and The Rock, the city has a rich history of featuring in crime thrillers. It's the home of Alcatraz after all.

  • TurnaroundTurnaround
The streetcars have to be physically turned around at their terminus to head back as they can only travel one way - this is how it's done.
  • The RockThe Rock
A 360 degree video from Alcatraz island looking across the bay to the city. If it sounds windy, that's because it was.
  • Streetcar.Streetcar.
GJ films the city from the iconic streetcars - with Alcatraz Island in the background.
  • The Transamerica tower looms large
  • A view of San Francisco from the Golden Gate Bridge
  • No longer used as a ferry terminal, with a fountain sculpture in the foreground
  • The entrance to Chinatown
  • Standing at the first suspension tower looking along the bridge
  • A classic view of the bridge from the visitors' centre
  • Iconic shot of the island approaching on the ferry
  • A typically bleak interior from Alcatraz

Denver 2003

A research trip for my first, unpublished novel. I will return to Denver in future books.

  • Inside Union Station
  • A nice shot of the historic train station exterior
  • Denver PD headquarters
  • Also known as the Mile High City, this is me on the step of the State Capitol Building - exactly one mile above sea level
  • The historic Lower Downtown area ('LoDo')
  • In the police plaza - a moving tribute to all Denver PD officers killed in the line of duty
  • The city as seen from my hotel room window
  • There's a reason no one else is out on the streets in this photo

Music

I took up the guitar in 2008 - these videos show how far I've come (or not) in that time.
